Film as Spatial Research Method
Studio course integrating cinematic analysis with architectural site documentation and design proposition.
Course Overview
This graduate studio integrates cinematic analysis with architectural site documentation and design proposition. Film is treated not as illustration but as a spatial research method — a way to read movement, framing, and threshold conditions in the city.
Methodology
Students analyze selected film sequences alongside on-site documentation, translating cinematic spatial logic into architectural diagrams and design interventions. The studio connects directly to the Cinematic Urban Interface Analysis research line within CD HUB.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply film-based analysis as a legitimate architectural research instrument
- Document urban interfaces through combined cinematic and site-based methods
- Produce design propositions grounded in documented spatial research
