Intellectual & Research Ecosystem

This is not a biography. It is a map of the intellectual territories where research, teaching, and public scholarship converge—grounded in three decades of academic practice.

How do humans learn, belong, imagine, and experience space under changing cultural, technological, and environmental conditions?

Professor of Architecture with nearly three decades of academic experience across Türkiye and international institutions. Invited speaker, journal founder and editor, author, podcast producer, and studio educator—with Q1 publications and visiting appointments at Lund, Politecnico di Milano, and Abdullah Gül University.

My work sits at the intersection of architectural education, spatial experience, cinema, artificial intelligence, and public knowledge. Books, podcasts, design studios, journal editorships, and Q1 publications are not separate outputs—they are interconnected expressions of one research ecosystem.

This practice is grounded in nearly thirty years of studio teaching and scholarly production: from doctoral research on urban interfaces to neuro-architecture studies, from founding ICONARP to editing DRArch and Güney Mimarlık, from the book Mimarlık Öğrencisi Misin? to its podcast counterpart reaching students across Türkiye.

Every project still begins with a spatial question: how do people learn to inhabit uncertainty? How does moving image reveal what buildings conceal? How might emerging technologies reshape design pedagogy? This website is not an online CV—it is the exhibition room for that ongoing inquiry.

Territory

Scholarly Territories

Architectural Education

Treating the design studio as a research laboratory, where pedagogy, critical practice, and methodological experimentation shape how architects learn to ask spatial questions.

Spatial Experience

Reading perceptual, social, and spatial thresholds where buildings meet the city—interstitial spaces, transitions, and belonging as primary research subjects.

Cinema and Architecture

Using moving image as analytical method—examining how cinematic framing, montage, and narrative reveal latent spatial conditions in buildings and cities.

AI and Design

Exploring how artificial intelligence and digital tools extend architectural research, representation, and design pedagogy within and beyond the studio.
